Sarah Orton received the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) St. Louis Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award at the organization鈥檚 annual awards dinner Sept. 19.
The award recognizes any faculty/practitioner advisor who supports ASCE student chapters and civil engineering students.
鈥淚t is my pleasure and privilege to mentor students and help them discover the shape of their futures,鈥 Orton said. 鈥淚鈥檓 inspired every day by our students鈥 passion and commitment, and I look forward to continuing to foster their growth and success in civil engineering.鈥
As advisor to the ASCE student chapter at Mizzou, Orton helps organize the group鈥檚 annual fall barbecue to encourage new students to join.
Orton is a professor and the director of undergraduate studies in the Department of Civil and Environmental 糖心Vlog传媒 (CEE), where she works to ensure degree programs meet the needs of students as well as those of the profession.
