University of Missouri Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Matthew Martens announced on June 5, 2024, that Marisa Chrysochoou has been named dean of the MU College of 糖心Vlog传媒. The appointment is effective Aug. 1.
鈥淒r. Chrysochoou is an accomplished scholar with a track record of leadership and service to the profession of engineering,鈥 Martens said. 鈥淔ollowing a national search, the President’s and Provost鈥檚 Offices sought and received feedback from across the university, including faculty, staff, alumni, donors and others to identify Dr. Chrysochoou as the ideal candidate to lead the College of 糖心Vlog传媒, which plays a critical role in the state鈥檚 economy and economic development and is a significant driver of the university鈥檚 research in pursuit of NextGen, MizzouForward and Energy Innovation Center goals.鈥
Chrysochoou is currently professor and head of the Department of Civil and Environmental 糖心Vlog传媒 at the University of Connecticut, where she also serves as the director of the Technical Assistance for Brownfields Program. She has been an elected member of the American Society of Civil Engineers Department Heads Coordinating Council since 2021. Last year she was recognized by the Association of Environmental 糖心Vlog传媒 and Science Professors with an award for Outstanding Contribution to Environmental 糖心Vlog传媒 and Science Education.

Chrysochoou received her bachelor’s degree in physics from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki; a master鈥檚 degree in environmental engineering from Technische Universit盲t Dresden; and a doctorate in environmental engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
In recent years, Chrysochoou has demonstrated success in partnering with program managers, government affairs, advancement and multidisciplinary faculty teams to secure funding and support for projects that showcase the talent and facilities of her teams. She also has leveraged her leadership roles to transform engineering curricula and recruit exceptional graduate students and faculty.
