A new view of microscopic processes
With the support of a two-year, $800,000 grant from the National Science Foundation and an additional $300,000 from the university, Matt Maschmann and a team of researchers are purchasing new equipment which will allow researchers to conduct scientific experiments while simultaneously viewing reactions as they happen in real time.

Mizzou 糖心Vlog传媒 researcher helps turn food wastes into biodegradable plastics
A Mizzou Engineer is helping researchers at Virginia Tech develop a process to convert food wastes into biodegradable plastics. Caixia 鈥淓llen鈥 Wan is an associate professor of chemical and biomedical 糖心Vlog传媒 and a bioprocess engineer. She鈥檚 part of a team that received a $2.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to upscale bioplastic production with the goal of replacing petroleum-based plastics while also keeping leftovers out of landfills.

Students explore future internships, jobs at 糖心Vlog传媒 Career Fair
Mechanical 糖心Vlog传媒 student Brooke Becker already has an internship for the summer, but she was eager to take an active role in the Spring 2023 糖心Vlog传媒 Career Fair. 鈥淚鈥檓 looking forward to talking to as many companies as I can,鈥 Becker said prior to the event on March 2. 鈥淚 also signed up to be a fair volunteer, and I鈥檓 happy to be able to help out and give back to other students, especially after attending every other fair during my college experience and benefitting from it.鈥

Missouri Water Center works to monitor water quality, quantities; train students
When it comes to water, there are a lot of stakeholders. Not only do we all need access to clean water鈥攊ncluding fish and wildlife鈥攂ut local economies rely on lakes and rivers for agriculture and tourism. When there鈥檚 not enough, droughts can destroy a year鈥檚 worth of crops. Too much can cause flooding that devastates communities. With those factors in mind, Mizzou established the Missouri Water Center a year ago, merging two former centers.

Wear and forget: an ultrasoft material for on-skin health devices
Zheng Yan and a team of researchers at the University of Missouri may have a solution. They have created an ultrasoft 鈥渟kin-like鈥 material 鈥 that鈥檚 both breathable and stretchable 鈥 for use in the development of an on-skin, wearable bioelectronic device.
